YOur PACKAGE and The BASIC

Every Box of Package or Envelope is very important to the consignee so sometimes when there are unexpected things happened that lead to the delay of the deliveries (from my line of work), we often heard lots of complain and even threats, it’s not easy but I’m very much used to the situation…

Been in the business for a long time, almost half of my age but don’t ask me about my age you’ll be surprised!! Hehehe I’m glad I have that extra patience that way up high above my head suppressing every angry nerve in my system to calm

Parcel or cargo is like the bread and butter in every business (big or small) or even in personal aspect,  That is why I’m writing this to let people know the BASIC why & how
 (for kuwait and applicable country)

How:

1:  To Consign your Package

Every shipment will have a waybill and it requires: complete address, PO box (optional) , receipient/Sender's name, telephone number, weight, commodity and so on..always write clearly and make sure the every details are completed

2:  To Pack your Stuff

Depending on the items, but in General we always have that mentality that sealing it with millions of packaging tape would protect your package from thieves and unauthorized notching but on the actual scenario, it won't do any protection once your cargo reached into the customs area because port authorities will basically require opening every package for actual inspection, so it is wise to use the standard box with  2 -3 strands of packaging tape on the top opening portion of the box for easy breach & fasten during & after  inspection,
palletized/crate shipment is different  I might tackle it in different post and would include safety precaustions topic…

3:  To Insure your Parcel

Courier companies often offers a cargo insurance depending how valuable is your cargo,   so if you are going to send a piece of shirt and caps and you require insurance then you’re crazy! Hehehe…..  Valuable items such as phones, asset items, gadgets may require cargo insurance so it is better to ask your courier or handling agents for suitable rates

4: To Track your shipment/s

Always keep a copy of the waybills or receipts because it is your ticket in finding the whereabouts of your shipment,
All known courier are expanding into the best easiet ways in tracking the shipments that is  the use of on line tracking tools that can be found in the courier websites or you may call their customer service for direct infos

What

1:  Are the things I have to know

-           -  Your shipment is not the only shipment in the world
-
-Even if courier companies endorsed a 24/7 service, Customs and Government offices don’t

-           - Once, shipment arrived at the given destination, there is always a clearance procedure to be done and it’s not an easy job

-         You have to pay duties and other miscellaneous charges but to ask or complain if you feel that you have been overcharged is always your RIGHT
Remember:  the value  + the weight of your cargo will determine the charges

-         COURIER = dhl, fedex ,ems ,aramex ,ups, tnt ….
-         POSTAL = Postal mail/box
-         AIR SHIPMENT = via carrier Kuwait Airways, Qatar, Emirates so on….

-         All non-document shipments may require commercial invoice & packing list prior to the dispatch
Remember:  above 20kgs with more than $1000 commercial value would require certificate of origin

-         Chemical/Hazardous Materials/Perishable/Medicines/ guns/Foods and anything alike may require Ministry approvals

-          Brand like: Sony, Nikon, Luis Vitton and any brands that have an authorized local agent in Kuwait may require authorization letter to the customs to clear the shipment, however, 1 or 2 quantity is fine and may not require such letter but going beyond numbers is of different story

-         Customer Services are the front people answering all your calls/queries their data/answers are only based from what has been encoded in their system,  so please have the heart and talk with less rudeness, because at the end of the day,   you cargo will be delivered to you in the best way they can…

If you have any queries about the topic,  don't hesistate to comment and I'll answer with the best of my ability (lolss) , but really, don't be shy!!
