15 Filipino Superstitions on New Year's Eve

I had a conversation with mom last night and we got into the point of elaborating few beliefs we unknowingly do during new year’s eve….

I tried working on the article but I can’t start a line, I’m kinda overloaded with so many things right now, so I have to say thank you “tagaloglang.com” for the complete list, I have to grab this article for a share and hope  you’ll permit me to do so…
“” There are so many interesting Filipino superstitions or folk beliefs associated with New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in the Philippines. Filipinos say you should observe the following customs and traditions to ensure that the new year being welcomed is a prosperous one. Many of these superstitions bears a strong Chinese influence. “”

1. Make as much noise as you can scare away evil spirits.

2. Turn on all lights so that the coming year is bright.

3. Open all doors, windows, cabinets and drawers let good fortune in.

4. Debts must be paid off. Fill you wallet with fresh peso bills. (Filipinos believe that whatever your financial state is in at the stroke of midnight, so it will be in the new year.)

5. Clean everything.

6. Wear polka-dots. Anything round signifies prosperity.

7. Scatter coins around the house, on tabletops.... inside drawers...

8. Prepare 12 round fruits, one for each month of the coming new year.

9. Have a very round grape in your mouth at the stroke of midnight.

10. Eat a native delicacy made from sticky rice to make good fortune stick in the new year.

11. Eat long noodles (pansit) for long life.

12. Jump twelve times at midnight to increase your height. (Observed by Filipino children.)

13. Don't have chicken or fish. They are associated with the scarcity of food.

14. Don't clean anything! You might sweep away the good fortune that came in on New Year's Eve.

15. Don't spend
moneyhttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png at all. Your thriftiness on the first day of the year will augur your money management in the coming year.

Happy New Year

Love DOES make us warm inside while disgust turns our stomach: Graphic reveals how emotions cause real physical symptoms

If you’ve ever felt a warm glow inside when in love or hot headed with anger, there may have been more to it than you thought.
Scientists have suspected for a long time that emotions are connected to a range of physiological change and now a studyhttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png has shown that emotional states are associated with specific sensations regardless of a person’s culture.
The research visually shows that heartbroken people really do feel an ache in their chest, weak with sadness or feel happiness spreading over their entire body.

Being in love makes a person feel a warm glow everywhere apart from their knees, perhaps hinting that there may be something in the popular saying that the object of a person’s affection makes them ‘weak at the knees’.
Sadness leaves our limbs feeling weak and we are extra-aware of activity in our chest – and heart.
Depression also leaves us feeling weak, while disgust is felt in the throat and digestive system.

Basic emotions including anger and fear cause an increase in sensation in the upper chest area, which could be because we are subconsciously preparing for a fight.

The findings come from Finnish researchers who showed 700 volunteers films and read them stories designed to evoke particular emotions.
The men and women were then given outlines of bodies and asked to colour in the parts they felt became more active or less active.

The results were the same across cultures, with love ‘felt’ right down to people’s toes and happiness suffusing the whole body with feeling.
Writing in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the researchers said that such physical feelings may underpin the way we experience emotions.

The Universityhttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png of Turku researchers said: ‘Unravelling the subjective bodily sensations associated with human emotions may help us better understand mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Chinese camouflage artist disguising himself among everyday objects

He may look like plain old photographs of roadsides and supermarkets, but these meticulous images take hours to construct.

It is the latest series of camouflage trickery unveiled by artist Liu Bolin, or 'the invisible man', who made his name blending into the background of everyday scenes.
The new shots, now exhibited at the Eli Klein Fine Art gallery in New York, show him melting into shelves packed with soft toys, fruit and vegetables, and a magazine rack

Mr Bolin, who is also a sculptor and painter, goes through swathes of clothes as he smears them with paint for each image.

And his friends have even become accustomed to him enlisting their help to conjure up the spell-binding images.
In one of his latest snaps, Mr Bolin blends into a huge billboard showing three females in military style uniforms parade across a square.

In another, he manages to disappear into the grey of a a huge aircraft carrier docked in New York.

A third shows him camouflaged into a rack of magazines - making it hard to see where they end and he begins.

DIY: Gift Wrap recycle envelope

Gift wrapping for me is an art, we may not notice it but giving gifts to someone special is always comes with thoughts to make such person happy and it all ends with a special presentation thru gift wrapping,

Gift wrapping is like our physical aspect, we took the initiative to look good and feel good to give the impression of being better as we face the world with high expectations

Now, let get down to business…  I love creating thing out of the things we don’t usually care or shall I say, used or recycled

So here’s what I come up with, a Holiday Gift wrap made from recycled envelopes and papers….
