Fresh Oyster from Singarea Korean Store

Kinda interesting,  living in Kuwait for the last 20 years and as they said,  this is the first ever to have a fresh oyster out in the market of Kuwait @ Singarea Korea Store.

In all honesty, I never had oyster before (in my entire life) except for the oyster sauce. There is no denying there is a right way to eat raw oysters which by the way, I don't see myself trying specially the fresh one.

Perhaps this is an opportunity for me to finally see and taste oyster hahahahahha

PRODUCT USED: GARNIER SKINACTIVE Micellar Water in Oil

I don't usually recommend products but this is something good,  for working mothers like me who just want to save my time from all this beauty regime after work, this product does the task for you, it's amazingly easy to use and good for the skin, I have a combination of oil and dry with sensitivity, perhaps maybe because I've been experimenting into a lot of products before that lead into this damaged skin, so I am very much careful this time in using different products for the skin, the key now for me is mild and effective.

with all the skin cleansing products I've tried, this miracle cleansing water-oil from Garnier has given me that convenience to clean my skin in the mildest way possible, it smooth and melts all the specks of dirt and make-up all over my face.  this is really a good product to try!!

Pure JoJoba Oil, my Miracle Oil

I found this Jojoba Oil in Kuwait city last week and been using for days now and it's giving me a really good result, I'm using it as a moisturizer after toning my face, my acne has become small and dry, giving me a less pores, smooth and soft skin not perfectly flawless but soft, for anyone who knew me, they know how much I've suffered from breakouts especially during the monthly cycle, it's terrible!! but after using Apple cider toner with this jojoba oil, my skin improved drastically!! I would call it a miracle!!

Here are many benefits using jojoba oil according to https://draxe.com/jojoba-oil/

Jojoba Oil Uses

You can purchase jojoba oil from any health food store, and recently it’s been in department stores and supermarkets as well. Typically, it costs between $5–$10 for a bottle. When shopping for jojoba oil, stick with the organic brands — you want to make sure it’s 100 percent jojoba oil and there aren’t any additives that may irritate your skin.
There are so many ways to use jojoba oil, so don’t be afraid to experiment with your hair and skin products by adding a few drops of this beneficial ingredient. Here are some recommended uses:

Face Moisturizer
Apply four to six drops in the morning and at night before bed.

Hair Moisturizer
Add three to five drops to your conditioner or apply one to two drops to damp hair after showering.

Remove Wrinkles
Use one to three drops of jojoba oil and apply it to wrinkled areas, then rub it into your skin in a circular motion until it’s absorbed.

Makeup Removal
Add three to five drops of jojoba oil to a cotton ball or pad and wipe off makeup.

Lip Balm
Apply one to two drops of jojoba oil to your lips whenever needed.

Fight Infections
Add one to three drops of jojoba oil to the infected or irritated area twice daily.

8 Proven Jojoba Oil Benefits

1. Moisturizes Skin

Our sebaceous glands are microscopic glands in our skin that secrete an oily or waxy matter called sebum. The texture and use of sebum is very similar to jojoba oil, so as we age our sebaceous glands produce less sebum, which is why we get dry skin and hair — it can even lead to dandruff or itchy scalp.

A jojoba oil benefit is that it plays the role of sebum and moisturizes our skin and hair when our body stops doing it naturally. On the other hand, too much sebum, which happens during puberty or when hormone levels are high, can result in oily skin and acne. Jojoba oil removes sticky buildup or excess oil, too; it keeps your oil levels balanced. That makes it a strong natural treatment for eczema as well as a home remedy for acne, plus well suited for other dry-skin conditions.

Jojoba oil is an emollient — meaning it moisturizes our skin and prevents irritations or scaly and rough patches. Dry skin is caused by a loss of water in the upper layer of the skin. Jojoba oil works by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin. It works on your face, neck, hands, feet and hair; you can use it anywhere on your body because it’s completely natural and contains no chemicals that lead to an allergic reaction.

2. Removes Makeup Safely
It’s perfectly safe to use jojoba oil on your face; in fact, it’s good for your skin. Instead of using makeup removers that contain chemicals, jojoba oil is a natural tool that removes the dirt, makeup, and bacteria from your face as you use it. It’s even safe for cleaning eye makeup, and it’s hypoallergenic.

3. Prevents Razor Burn
You don’t have to use shaving cream anymore; instead, jojoba oil’s waxy texture eliminates the threat of shaving incidents like cuts and razor burn. Plus, unlike some shaving creams that contain chemicals that clog your pores, jojoba oil is 100 percent natural and promotes healthy skin. Try applying jojoba oil before you shave so it creates a smooth surface for shaving, and then apply it after you shave to moisturize your skin and heal cuts quickly.

4. Promotes Skin Health
Jojoba oil is noncomedogenic, meaning it doesn’t clog pores. Although it’s an oil — and we usually think that oil that sits on our skin is what causes breakouts — jojoba oil works as a protectant and cleanser. Jojoba oil is rich in iodine, which fights harmful bacteria growth that leads to breakouts. The antioxidants present in jojoba oil soothe fine lines, wrinkles and naturally slow down other signs of aging.

Jojoba oil can also accelerate the wound-healing process, as indicated in a study done at the Department of Environment and Life Sciences in Italy. The results proved that jojoba oil speeds up wound closures and stimulates collagen synthesis; the study also noted that jojoba oil had extremely low toxic effects when used on the skin.

A 2012 study conducted in Germany examined jojoba oil’s ability to reduce skin lesions and improve overall skin condition for 194 participants, who applied clay masks with jojoba oil to their faces two to three times per week; 54 percent of the participants reported that skin lesions were reduced significantly after six weeks of using jojoba oil.

THE NEW GENERATION MG6 ARRIVES IN THE MIDDLE EAST

(19 September 2018, Middle East) MG Motor has confirmed that its stylish all-new MG6 sedan will be launched in the Middle East in late October this year. The all-new MG6 is the latest model from the British-born automotive brand, which is enjoying a major resurgence in popularity across the region as its expanding new product line-up continues to attract a rapidly increasing number of buyers.

The sleek, dynamic profile of the all-new MG6 is boosted by carbon fibre trim on the front bumper, headlamps featuring a ‘London Eye’ design concept, twin chrome exhaust pipes and a ‘Star Rider’ front grille, which takes inspiration from the brand’s expressive design language. The sporty, premium vibe continues inside the cabin with a smartly configured dashboard and central console, complemented by stylish leather-wrapped seats boasting a black and red interior on top-of-the-range models.

In addition to offering the most interior space in its segment, the all-new MG6 builds on MG’s reputation for providing extremely generous levels of equipment. An 8-inch colour touch screen with Apple CarPlay, push start button, keyless entry, auto hold function, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera, and a dual-zone cool climate control system featuring rear air-conditioning vents are just some of the features that are set to be offered as standard.

When it arrives in the Middle East, the MG6 will be equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo engine, mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DTC) with paddle shift option, for smooth, effortless performance. This efficient petrol unit delivers maximum power of 169hp and maximum torque of 250Nm.

Mr. Tom Lee, Managing Director, SAIC Motor Middle East, commented: “The all-new MG6 will reinforce the brand’s reputation for offering reliability and industry-leading value for money. By spending their hard-earned money on our cars in increasing numbers, customers across the region are clearly demonstrating their appreciation of MG’s line-up of good looking, well-equipped and technologically-advanced models. This new generation model will stand out in the Middle East’s prominent sedan segment, and will help us to achieve our objective of increasing market share.”

Since its acquisition of MG Motor, SAIC MOTOR, as a Global Top 500 company, has opened a new chapter for this British-born brand. The introduction of the all-new MG6 follows the launch of two SUV models earlier this year, the MG RX5 compact SUV and the MG ZS SUV, as well as the second-generation MG GS. Together, these models join the existing MG 360 to complete the brand’s Middle East line-up.

Breaking my Beliefs: The black Cat and its Luck

I was driving home yesterday when a black cat suddenly appeared crossing the road in front of me, I can’t help holding into my rosary and uttered: “In Jesus name”, sort of precautions, I know, most of you know exactly what comes into my head seeing a black cat passing by.

I never thought that all this time, the superstitious beliefs from granny lingered into my system unconsciously, it's becoming an automatic practice when a situation calls for it, even on a distant or in a place where vast modernization and technologies are fast arising. maybe, it has something to do with being Asian and grew up in a very traditional conservative Filipino environment.

My granny used to say: There’s no harm in believing PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE, after all, it’s a belief to prevent us from bad luck or anything alike.

Let me share some common superstitious belief I always keep to myself even today, some might be weird but it is what it is!!

Here goes….

1.) If the pregnant woman hops over her husband, her morning sickness will transfer to her husband.
2.) Anyone who shares the food being eaten by a pregnant woman will suffer from spells of drowsiness, dizziness and vomiting.
3.) Paying a debt at night brings bad luck.
4.) Showering the rooms of a new house with coins before moving in will bring prosperity.
5.) Ornamental plants with round leaves inside the house are signs of good luck while keeping vines that grow downward are bad luck.
6.) Wear a polka-dot shirt or dress to prosperity on New Year’s Eve to attract prosperity the whole year round.
7.) It is unlucky to cut one’s hair or fingernails after sundown.
8.) If one accidentally bites his tongue people are talking about him.
9.) A black cat crossing your path means bad luck
10.) Dropped utensils announce the arrival of a visitor
11.) Don’t clear the dining table unless everyone has finished eating. If you do, you doom the last single dinner guest to a life of loneliness.

And for sure, you also have yours …. What do you believe??

EXPAT STORY : A STALK OF BAMBOO

Struggles in a strange land are very common to us EXPATS,  I'm creating a space in this blog for writers who would like to share stories or any writings whether anonymously or with a name, I am willing to listen and perhaps coach you in life.

A Stalk of Bamboo

by : Anonymous Expat Writer in Kuwait

I have a broken finger. I’ve had it for three weeks now. I am not so sure if it is mending properly. You see, every day, I merely splint it with a stick two inches long I rummaged from our communal kitchen and patch it around with a folded tissue and a transparent scotch tape.

If I need to go out, I hold it together with a Band-Aid I bought from a pharmacy so it would look a bit fancy. For one Kuwaiti Dinar, I was able to buy sixteen pieces, although now I only have four left. If you see me walking around with a finger roughly patched in a tissue held together with a Band-Aid,

I’ll merely laugh and shrug it off as a cut and assure you with my boyish grin that it is healing quite fine.

I am afraid it is not.

I do not have the means to go to a hospital to have it checked and I do not know whom to talk to. I dare not impose anyone; we all have our own problems. I dare not even want to mention it to my mother. I am my mother’s son. She calls me from back home, checking on me, and with my boyish grin, l lie to her without batting my eyes that everything is fine even though they are not. That I have spent my last remaining dregs of Dinar to buy that band-aid and that I will be trying to budget 500 fils for a month before payday comes, and that I will, once again, merely eat that 150 fils worth of sliced bread you can buy from a Bakala for my daily meal.

We all have our reasons for lying to our loved ones. I love my mom. I do not want her to worry. I know how she worries about me here and I do not want her to worry more. It pains me so deep that sometimes I purposely do not answer her call, watching her name dance on my phone screen, waiting for her call to end and hoping she’ll just realize I might be too busy. We all have our own reasons why we try to swallow down our tears and say that everything is fine. Hoping that maybe tomorrow, or the day after, Kuwait will live up to its promise.

Insha’Allah. So they say.

Tomorrow is another day. I shall bind my broken finger once again with a tissue and a tape and smile that it is merely a cut.

EXPAT READS: THE FIRESTARTER

Nothing can actually describe my feelings right now, I just came out from eye clinic and guess what?! my optometrist prescribed a higher grade glasses for my eyes, never did I feel regret for I know, I constantly abuse my eyes obsessing on reading and accessing my laptops for reviews, I have no regrets but I wish I could have prevented it. because it's not worth to lose something as important as an eyesight in exchange for pieces of information.  so anyone out there obsessing over books and reading without proper lighting please be careful and takes care of your precious eyes nothing can ever replace the beauty it posses to see the world in perfect colors.

Anyway, beyond my concern as I am sure I'm going to get over with this, I will take care of my eyes in every moment I breathe, I wanted to share this amazing book with you, it is called the FIRESTARTER -- How innovators, instigators, and initiators can inspire you to ignite your won life.  for anyone who's been following my blog over the years, you know that I'm a fan of self-help books and anything alike, I could only wish to publish a book under my name, perhaps soon.

FIRESTARTERS is initially like a manual based on studies and experience of others, what I like about it is the information and the realizations I got from the experiences of others, how they become who they are today, their experiences, their mindset to achieve something so significant out of ordinary people who wanted to use their fire within to become leaders, innovators and so on...

I am personally transformed by the way of thinking and setting myself out of the boundary. I super love this book and would recommend it to all mother's like me and to the people who would want find themselves out of their ordinary lives to find their passion in life and help shape the world.

it's available in Jarir Book Store- Boulevard salmiya, it's worth your time and money!!
