The hi-tech bra that helps you beat breast cancer and other clothes that can treat or prevent illness

Sun savvy: The Netatmo June bracelet has a sensor that measures UV light

This was the year we’d be wearing shoes that tied their own laces — or so the Back To The Future films predicted in the Eighties.
While this may seem as fanciful now as it did then, 2015 does looks set to be the year of so-called ‘wearable technology’, clothing and accessories that could transform not only our wardrobes, but our health, too.

Until now, wearable technology has largely taken the form of wristband trackers — such as the Fitbit (launched in 2008), 2011’s Jawbone and the much-hyped Apple Watch, due to go on sale on April 24.

But now, manufacturers are developing everyday items of clothing and shoes that can monitor our vital signs, and even treat serious conditions. The latest innovations include a bra that could deliver life-saving breast cancer medication and socks that warn if you’re at risk of injury.
Even big brands are moving into the market — this year, the U.S. designer Ralph Lauren will launch a sports top that monitors heart rate, muscle movement and calories burnt.
‘So far, wearable technology in the context of well-being has been mainly about monitoring personal data,’ says Caroline Till, course leader in Material Futures at Central St Martins, University of the Arts London. ‘The question now is what do you do with the data once you have it? Is the information of value?’

This is where the latest technology comes in, with the focus on giving you feedback from the information collated. So in theory, ‘wearables’, as they’re known, will not only take your blood pressure reading, they’ll tell you if it’s dangerously high. ‘The holy grail of wearable technology is something that’s integrated seamlessly into something you wear or use already, so you don’t notice it’s there,’ says Caroline Till.

This is now closer to being a reality because circuitry can be made small and light enough to be embedded in clothing. Another material technology, known as micro-encapsulation, allows tiny ‘nano’ particles of a substance — for instance, a drug — to be embedded into a material so it is gradually absorbed through the skin when worn.

Here, we look at the latest ‘wearables’— some of which are already available, with others still being developed — that could transform our health . .

Hi-tech: A bra contains technology which allows tiny ‘nano’ particles of a substance - for instance, a drug - to be embedded into a material

BRA THAT DELIVERS CANCER DRUGS

The Foxleaf bra contains micro-encapsulated ‘bubbles’ of the drug Tamoxifen in soft, plastic inserts in the cups.
The idea is that the body’s heat and moisture rub off the bubbles’ coating and the Tamoxifen, which blocks oestrogen to slow the growth of cancer cells, can be gradually absorbed through the skin throughout the day.

The Omsignal top has sensors woven into the fabric in the chest to monitor heart rate and breathing
VEST TO HELP YOU BURN OFF CALORIES

NASA scientist Dr Wayne B Hayes has invented the Cold Shoulder vest, which he says boosts your body’s ability to burn calories.
The vest, which can be kept in the freezer, has pockets for ice packs around the back and shoulders. The idea is that by wearing the vest your body has to burn more calories to stay warm — as much as an extra 500 calories a day, says Dr Hayes.

T-SHIRT TO MONITOR YOUR HEART

Omsignal, the company working with Ralph Lauren to create a tech sports shirt, has a top already on sale that has sensors woven into the fabric in the chest to monitor heart rate and breathing. The sensors can also monitor the electrical activity of the heart.
Fibres feed this information to a ‘black box’ — about the size of a credit card — attached to the shirt. The box sends the information to your mobile, with alerts from your phone telling you to breathe more, slow down or speed up.
The heart and breathing rate data is also used to estimate how many calories you’re burning — thought to be much more accurate than standard fitness tracking wristbands which make calculations based on how much you’re moving. At the moment the garment has only been designed for men. A version for women is in development.

DRESS THAT GETS MUMS-TO-BE MOVING

It’s a wrap-dress, but not as you know it — maternity dresses designed by Blake Uretsky, a fashion student at Cornell University in the U.S., contain conductive silver fibres under the bust to monitor a pregnant woman’s heart rate, breathing, blood pressure and temperature, along with a device worn on the belt that can then communicate with a smartphone.
The dress can then alert a mother-to-be if her readings suggest she might be over doing it — or not being active enough.
Some research has suggested that women who are more active during pregnancy have fewer complications during both gestation and labour.

RUNNING SOCKS THAT CAN PREVENT INJURY

Sensoria’s smart running socks monitor the way your feet strike the ground, warning you if you are at risk of injury and also how to correct your stride. ‘Flaws in your gait are a common cause of injury,’ says physiotherapist Sammy Margo.

The Sensoria socks detect how your foot lands, and conductive fibres then relay this information to a small clip-on device on the ankle. This sends information to your phone, which can issue real-time audio warnings and advice if needs be.

Another ingenious thing of beauty but will you want one? Apple unveil the Watch that will you let you 'check into hotels, order an Uber and clock your heart rate - with 18 HOURS of battery life'

Apple has finally revealed its Watch in minute detail and announced how long it will last on a single charge.

Since its unveiling in September the Watch has been shrouded in mystery, with Apple's boss Tim Cook teasing features at every available opportunity.
But now everything - including its 'all-day' battery life has been announced - although the CEO added that with typical use this is more likely to be 18 hours. What 'typical' use entails remains unknown.

Prices for the Sport model start at $349 in the US and £299 in the UK, while the stainless steel Watch starts at $549 (£479) and the Edition costs from a staggering $10,000 (£8,000). The most expensive model in the US will cost $17,000 (£11,200).
It comes in three models: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition, and all models are sold in either 1.4-inch (38mm) or 1.7-inch (42mm) versions.

APPLE TV TEAMS UP WITH HBO

At the event Tim Cook announced Apple's partnership with HBO for the launch of HBO Now.

The on-demand service will offer all of HBO's shows for $14.99 a month.
HBO's boss Richard Plepler said: 'All you need is a broadband connection and an Apple device.'

There will be a brand new HBO Now channel on Apple TV, iPhones and iPads.
The service is launching in April, in time for Game of Thrones and for people who sign up in April, they will get the first month free.

Apple also dropped the price of its TV box from $99 to $69 and Mr Cook hinted at plans for an updated Apple TV set.
'Apple TV will reinvent the way you watch television - and this is just the beginning,' said the chief executive.

'We make products that enhance people's lives - and the Apple Watch takes that to a new level,' continued Mr Cook at tonight's event.
'It even reminds you if you've been sitting too long and it can set you a new movement target each week.'

The Watch app is available from iOS 8.2 today, and Mr Cook added: 'We think Apple Watch will become integral to your day - so we have given it all day battery life.

'During a typical day, you can use it for 18 hours - more than enough for anyone I think.'
The Apple Watch is made of stainless steel and prices range between $549 and $1048 for the 1.4-inch model and $599 and $1099 for the larger 1.7-inch version.

Watch Sport is made of 7000 Series Silver Aluminum and ranges from $349 to $399.
The premium Edition has a similar build to the Apple Watch but comes in 18-Karat Rose Gold and Yellow Gold.

Prices start at $10,000. In the UK, the Sport starts at £299, the standard Watch starts at £479 and the Edition model will cost £8,000.

'$10,000 might be a huge sum for a piece of technology, but for luxury goods it's run-of-the-mill, Will Findlater of Stuff told DailyMail.com

'Apple is targeting not just technology fans but mainstream consumers and the fashion crowd with the Apple Watch.'

All of the watches can be pre-ordered from 10 April and goes on sale on 24 April.
They will be available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan,
the UK and the US.

Interchangeable straps include fluoroelastomer (rubber), leather, and stainless steel and this will mean both left-handed and right-handed people can use the Watch by fitting the strap so the digital crown is on the opposite side.

Connecting to the iPhone, the Apple Watch is designed as a wrist device for messaging and calls and for a variety of health tracking applications.

Know Your Rights - Rent Rules Kuwait

KUWAIT: The law in Kuwait allows a landlord to increase rent only after five years from the date of signing the first lease. He is allowed to increase any amount up to 100 percent of the present rent after the five years only. On the other hand, the tenant can refuse this increase if it was unreasonable and demand the court to evaluate the increase.
But what do you do when the landlord or more likely the haris is knocking on your door, threatening that you must pay an increase in rent – even if the legal five years is not up.
You refuse and in a steady stream of harassments and annoyances, they try to make living in the building impossible. According to Attorney Mubarak Mijze’a you have a few options:
1. File a police case. “If the landlord cuts the water or electricity, for instance, the tenant should go to the police station to report the incident and have a policeman go to his flat to prove his statement. And the tenant should register all incidents such as the malfunction of the air-conditioning system or the elevator,” he told the Kuwait Times.
2. Pay at the court. “If the landlord demands an illegal or unreasonable increase the tenant can refuse it and start paying at the court. the tenant should be careful to pay before the 21st of the month. Otherwise the landlord can expel the tenant from the flat for not paying the rent,” added Mijze’a.
3. Fight back by asking for a rent discount. A tenant can demand the decrease of the rent in some cases. “If the tenant suffered from problems and lack of services in his building the judge may even decide to decrease the rent.
Reporting the various abuses at the police station will support the tenant’s case at the court, and will also serve as a warning for the landlord to refrain from further abuses,” the attorney concluded.
A new center has been set up in South Surra to receive complaints from tenants who live in the Hawally governorate.
This will help collate complaints against specific landlords and also ease the burden the various police stations.

Al Rimal Resort & Hotel Kuwait

We had a wonderful time spent last week, well, actually it’s mom's birthday and she decided to spend it somewhere private for the whole family,  I was browsing booking.com and found AL Rimal Resort Kuwait as the  perfect place to hold the event

As we arrived at the venue, we were greeted by a wonderful receptionist he’s very accommodating and helpful and right after the check-in process, a hotel representative assisted us in our chalet,

I don’t want to say that this is a review, but in my opinion the Place stands to its 3 star rating, new paint job, furniture would somehow uplift the status of the resort, but  it’s convenient for the family to stay, it has a wonderful location, privacy and scenery

Overall, We have a pleasant stay, We enjoy the Place and most specially, the kids enjoy the swimming pool and so are we!!

oohhh!! by the way, just a little note: the Pool in-charge also needs a customer service training  to be aware what customer service is all about, not to be racist and fair!!!
